I brought children into this dark world because it needed the light that only a child can bring ~Liz Armbruster

One child prays, the other giggles about the idea of Jesus. Ones heart is changing, the other is being defensive so jokes are made to guard and protect. We cannot make somebody change. We can force them to say certain words, but hearts and minds only change on their own. I might go for some time and never see a child give their life to Christ, but that is not my responsibility. My job is to plant seeds. The words we preach might take 20 years to grow roots. But God’s time doesn’t make since to my human mind. What if 20 years ago I never put in the effort because I didn’t see immediate fruits? Some kids get it now, and close their eyes to sincerely pray. Others peek to see what others are doing. The ones who peek hear the words of Jesus even though they are not acting upon them. One day, when they have nothing left to run to, they will remember the words we taught them. That is when the fruit comes; in God’s time. We plant seeds, God makes them grow.

Should I even attempt to write anything about Brooklyn?
This place is too great/bad/hard/beautiful/complicated to describe.
Just know, Brooklyn is where it is at. My favorite place I have ever lived.

During my time in New York, I saw it all: The best of the best to the worst of the worst. One thing that always kept constant was the kids. Children, no matter how good or bad their surroundings, are still going to be children. I could sit for hours and tell stories that sadden my heart, as well as funny things that kids did. This boy who lives in Queensbridge, never was seen without some kind of food in hand. I saw him every Thursday for four months and everyday he was eating something. This particular day a PB & J was his food of choice, as he smeared it all over his face. That is the only true way to enjoy food.
